The Upper Valley Land Trust, the City of Lebanon and the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to bring back a popular program that celebrates the City’s natural assets. UVLT President Jeanie McIntyre says, “Lebanon is a thriving small city with a big outdoors. ‘Wild About Lebanon’ puts the spotlight on what makes the City so special.”

The Farnum Five

The Farnum Five is a 5.5 mile trail race at the Farnum Hill Preserve and is a part of the Western New Hampshire Trail Running Series. Join UVLT and the City of Lebanon for this fun and exciting event! Don’t want to run in a trail race? No problem! You can volunteer to help out on race day as a UVLT volunteer! Race volunteers get a free UVLT t-shirt. Volunteer by emailing Alison at alison.marchione@uvlt.orgAll proceeds from this event go to the Lebanon PLAYS new playground. Hike Indian Ridge

Trailhead Parking off Lahaye Drive

The hike will commence from the trailhead parking located “off” Lahaye Drive, almost directly adjacent the southern entrance to DHMC hospital. The group will hike the Water Tower road to the Indian Ridge trail, continue to the northern terminus, and then loop back on Joe's Path and Albert's Path, to the Lahaye Drive trailhead. This trail system follows a north-south ridgeline

with an approximately 500 ft change in elevation. The property contains historic stone walls, mature hardwood and softwood forest stands, as well as stream and wetland features. (1.6 mile, strenuous).

Cross Country Ski/Snowshoe at Balestra

Join UVLT, the City of Lebanon, and Suellen Balestra at her conserved Lebanon Farm for a day of cross country skiing or snowshoeing and beautiful scenic vistas! When you are done skiing join us in the barn for small reception to kick off the beginning of our Wild About Lebanon Series! Snacks and hot drinks will be provided. If the snow is of good quality the trails will be groomed! (Varying distances and difficulty)

Class 6 Road - Snowshoe

Hall Road & Hall School Road 
(located between Poverty Ln and Trues Brook Rd)

Explore some of Lebanon’s Class 6 Roads! We will meet at the Hall Road entrance south of Poverty Lane Orchard, adjacent to 218 Poverty Ln., and continue south of the airport runway to the Hall School Road, terminating in close proximity to Trues Brook Road. Approximately 1-mile snowshoe with moderate up and down.

Hike (or Snowshoe) Signal Hill

Signal Hill, Stevens Road, Lebanon

Celebrate the returning of the light with a hike the day after Daylight Savings Time begins. The sun won’t set until almost 7pm so let’s get outside for this nice after work hike! This hike on old logging roads goes uphill to beautiful overlooks, through two large fields and dense pine woods to a clearing that affords views of Croydon Mountain, Mount Ascutney, and Blueberry Hill. If conditions are appropriate we will end with a small campfire. (2 miles, easy)

Earth Day at Starr Hill

Celebrating the Spirit of Conservation and the life of Laurel Letter

Join UVLT staff in a short hike from the Woodlands through Starr Hill Preserve. We will start at the Woodlands upper parking lot to the plaque dedicated to Laurel for her hard work to help UVLT buy, conserve, and give the property to the City. (1 mile, easy)

Bird Walk at Chambers Memorial Reserve

Join us in a walk through this neighborhood park. We will walk through pine and hemlock stands down to the banks of the Connecticut where we will hopefully catch glimpses of migrating waterfowl and other birds. Meet at the Kiosk off of Faraway Lane, please park on the south side of the road (2 mi, moderate with some steep & strenuous down/up hills).
